Advantages and characteristics of aluminum

1,Low density,the density of aluminum is 2.7g/cm3,it’s about 1/3 comparing with steel or brass.

2, High plasticity,aluminum has good ductility,it can be produced by extrusion,CNC machining or forging.

3, Anti-corrosion,aluminum is a highly electronegative metal, under natural conditions or anodized processing,their surface will form a protective oxidation film which makes it has much better corrosion resistance than steel.

4,Aluminum can do many kinds of surface finishing,such as anodizing,brushing and powder coating.

The advantages makes aluminum always been considered to use for products,there are three solutions which can reduce the deformation when we manufacture.

1, Reduce the internal stress of material

The internal stress of the blank can be partially eliminated by natural or artificial aging and vibration treatment. Pre-processing is also an effective process. For a big block material,due to the large excessive, it is also large deformation after processing.If we can mill the excessive material a little by a little from every side,it can reduce the deformation when we produce,at the same time it can release the internal stress after a while.

2, Improve cutting ability of tool

The tool material, geometric parameters have important effects on cutting force and cutting heat.Choice a correct tool is the key to reduce the deformation of parts.

3, Improve the clamping method of workpiece

For the thin-walled aluminum workpiece with poor rigidity, the following clamping methods can be used to reduce deformation:

a,For thin-wall bushing parts, if the three-jaw self-centering chuck or spring chuck from the radial clamping, once the processing is released, the workpiece is bound to deformation.

At this point, the method of axial end face compression with good rigidity should be used. Locate the inner hole of the part, make a threaded mandrel by yourself, insert it into the inner hole of the part, and use a cover plate to press the end face and then use the nut to tighten it. The clamping deformation can be avoided when machining the outer circle, and the machining accuracy can be satisfied.

b,For thin wall thin plate workpiece processing, it is best to choose vacuum suction cup, in order to obtain uniform distribution of clamping force, and then to reduce the cutting amount to machining, can well prevent the workpiece deformation.
